I'm having trouble creating the stitch pattern used in one of the patterns of Inside Crochet.

You're not alone! First, Inside Crochet is a magazine based in the United Kingdom so the crochet terminology is different from that used in the U.S. See the Crochet Terminology Translation table below. If that isn't the issue, please refer to our Crochet Stitch Video Tutorials which are labeled both by stitch and name of pattern stitch is used in.

US Term International Term
chain (ch) = chain (ch)
slip stitch (sl st) = slip stitch (sl st)
single crochet (sc) = double crochet (dc)
half double crochet (hdc) = half treble crochet (htr)
double crochet (dc) = treble crochet (tr)
treble crochet (tr) = double treble crochet (dtr)

Why is the phrase AT THE SAME TIME used in pattern writing? It's confusing.
